The Super Bowl Halftime Show is probably one of the most anticipated entertainment performances every year. Not surprising considering the effort and theatrics that go into it. But while people were busy singing their hearts and dancing along with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s performance, one interesting detail may have escaped their attention.

Further proof of the kind of hard work that goes into putting on the halftime show is the kind of costumes that the Colombian singer wore on stage. Apparently, the star was dripping in two million red Siam Swarovski crystals as she sang her hits in front of an audience of almost 100 million viewers. Shakira reportedly wore custom designs by Peter Dundas, a Norwegian designer.
One of her looks alone featured a whopping 30,000 Swarovski crystals, which decorated a $20,000 pair of boots. Her stylist Nicolas Bru says that the crystal details she donned for her performance gave the star’s outfits just the right balance between playfulness and sophistication. Meanwhile, the singer’s fans commented on how her bedazzled red outfit looked just the same as the one worn by a character she played in the animated film ‘Zootopia’ back in 2016.

Shakira is not the only one dripping in Swarovski crystals these days though. Red carpets for the current award season have seen a fair share of other stars donning bedazzled jewelry from the brand. Some of them are ‘Stranger Things’ actress Maya Hawke, director Greta Gerwig, ballerina Misty Copeland, and former Disney star Bella Thorne showed up to events wearing the gems.
