Christopher Walken – Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Christopher Walken took a uniquely silent role as Headless Horseman in Tim Burton’s “Sleepy Hollow,” where his haunting makeup spoke volumes. As such, each day involved a lengthy makeup process, as artists turned his distinctive features into a nightmarish vision: jet-black, mussed-up hair; ghostly pale skin; dark, sunken eyes; pale, almost lifeless lips; blackened eyebrows; and those terrifying, razor-sharp pointed teeth.

It was so complete that Christopher became unrecognizable, embodying the terrifying specter of the Horseman with every eerie stride. He once humorously remarked, “I didn’t need to say a word, and I still scared everyone to death!” proving that sometimes, silence and a stellar makeup job can indeed be golden—or in this case, horrifyingly perfect.
