Sophia Loren, 89, Born In 1934 – The Pride
Sophia Loren won the Miss Elegance title at the 1950 Miss Italia pageant at the age of 15. She took up acting classes in the year that followed, and that sealed her fate in Hollywood. Her earlier film features include The Pride and The Passion and Houseboat. Recently, she headlined the 2021 documentary What Would Sophia Loren Do?
Loren’s talents haven’t gone unnoticed, and she has five Golden Globe wins as well as an Academy Award for her role in the 1961 film Two Women. The AARP recognized her as the Best Actress for her role in the 2020 Netflix film The Life Ahead.
