Karine Jean-Pierre, who previously worked as Jen Psaki’s deputy in the White House press office, started as a press secretary on May 5, 2022. In addition to her impressive career, Karine is also a French activist and the proud mother of a child she adopted with her wife, CNN host Suzanne Malveaux.

The couple began their relationship in 2012. Following the passage of a law protecting the rights of the LGBTQ community, they made history as the first people of color and openly gay individuals to work in the White House, which resulted in them being espoused in May 2022.
